How To Write Content for Different Websites?

An online presence for your brand is critical to its success in different markets. To ensure you can establish and expand that presence, you need to have a digital address, an office, that acts as the connecting interface between you and your clients when it comes to the digital world.

Just like you would ensure that your physical office looks appealing with the right décor and layout and you would carefully select a client-relationship manager to help your customers walk through your various offerings, your website should work the same way.

The content goals for different types of websites are different because so are the services that they provide. Therefore, the same flow and type of content are not applicable for different businesses. As such, you need to know exactly what kind of content does work for your business.

The content goals for different types of websites are different because so are the services that they provide. Therefore, the same flow and type of content is not applicable for different businesses. As such, you need to know exactly what kind of content does work for your business.

In today's post, we will talk about the different types of websites and share ideas on how to write content for these websites.

E-commerce websites

The main aim of these websites is to sell products or service bundles, subscriptions, etc. These are the most common type of websites that we come across in our daily life. The purpose of E-commerce websites is to turn a physical store into an online one, to make it accessible to customers from the comfort of their home.

The content (referred to as copy when you are talking about website content) must be short and eye-catching for these websites. Content that sparks curiosity in the mind of the customer to know or read more about your product.

Website copy should be written in a way that explicitly mentions what the product is and how the customer will get benefitted from it. It should be created in a way that makes the customer realize that the product will have a net positive impact on their life.

Additionally, if possible, try to illustrate how to maintain or use the product to get the most out of it. A product demonstration video embedded on your website will go a long way in convincing your prospective customers about the usability and benefits of the product, much like how you would have demonstrated it to them if they were in an actual, physical store.

Service-based business website

Emphasize how your service can benefit them. Make sure you address their pain points instead of focusing on how great your product is. Prospective customers might not be as interested in your brand as would like till they are convinced that your service can help solve their pain points. So, make sure to tell them what they want to know. prospective clients are not really facing a real rep from your company. In this case, it becomes crucial to create a sense of understanding and belonging here, that can help them feel connected to the brand. You can do this by keeping your tone conversational and formal. To help your prospective clients understand the brand, you can walk them through the service you provide in a fluid manner, much like storytelling.

You can start by stating the problems faced by your prospective customers, this will give them a sense of assurance that you are aware of the problems they are facing and might have a way to solve them.

The next step is to explain to your customers what could be a possible solution to their problem. By doing so, you are showcasing your expertise in the field, which helps build their trust in you and your work.

Once you have established the ways of solving their pain points, show them how your service or product-based service (SaaS, for example) can help them.

Application-based websites

Just like E-commerce websites, application-based websites also need short, catchy, and interesting copy, which makes the website visitor curious to find more about it.

Different types of websites demand different content. Just like you can't wear a bomber jacket to a black-tie event, you can't write copy meant for an app-based website while writing content for a service-based website. It’s crucial to tailor content as per the need of the website. ore themselves.

Make sure not to use many technical terms and explain everything in a simple language to make the visitors comfortable.

While writing content for your app-based website, always highlight your Unique Selling Point (USP). Tell your customers:

2. What are the features you offer that they won't find anywhere else?

3. What makes your application a better option when compared with other apps present in the market?

Try to keep your tone friendly, engaging, and conversational.

Last but not least, make sure to provide a short demo video, which shows users how to download, login, use, and access all the unique features in your app. By doing so, you are eliminating most of the questions that your users might have in their minds. It will make things easier for the user, as you have already guided them through the whole process, ensuring that they are all set to download and run your app.
